Community Heritage Grant Recipient

We are thrilled to be a 2023 Community Heritage Grants recipient!

The Sea Heritage Foundation has received funding to allow us to conduct a National Significance Assessment of our archives and artefacts which of course, includes the MV Cape Don! Our eventual aim is to digitise our collection so it is easily accessible to the general public and researchers alike. Understanding the significance is the first step in a planned process to better understand, manage and exhibit the amazing resource we have in our care.

The Community Heritage Grants (CHG) program provides non-profit community organisations with funding to assist with the preservation of locally owned, but nationally significant collections. The grants also aim to make these collections more publicly accessible.

CHG is funded by the Australian Government through the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development,  Communications and the Arts (Office for the Arts); National Library of Australia; the National Archives of Australia; the National Film and Sound Archive and the National Museum of Australia.
